Research resources for Literature and Film Genre Presentations

The project

Researching films:

Find CRAAP  (Currency, Relevance, Authority, Accuracy, and Purpose) tested sources (published articles, reviews, interviews, etc.) about your films and genre to learn how they were made, received, and discussed, to enhance your understanding of the genre.

Additionally, find and cite at least 2 pieces of film criticism that helps you understand the history/relevance of your genre.

In the library

Search for genres and specific films in these library databases.

Tips:

  • Put the film name in quotes
  • Use the terms 'review' or 'analysis'
  • In Proquest and Gale Literature, limit your search to scholarly/academic articles for actual criticism (not just reviews)

Websites

Google

Tips for google searching:

  • Put the movie name in quotes
  • Add the word review, interview, or article to narrow your search
  • Be sure the source is written by an expert--google the author to see what expertise they offer!
